CHLOE'S STORY

On April the 7th 1998 my daughter Jessica Chloe Blake was born. Only 5 and a half months later she was brutally taken away from me by my ex boyfriend, I was 19 at the time.

Heres where her story begins...........

14th September 1998 I go out to the town as I needed to get some things, I had Chloe ready to go out but my ex said that I should leave her with him as she had a cold & it was a damp miserable day so thinking that leaving her at home in the warmth would be the best thing for her.

I left her with my ex. Returning home an hour later I was met with my ex coming down the stairs & about to put Chloe into the pushchair to go out I told him that I would do it, To which he said "No, its ok I'll do it". So I left him to put her in the pushchair & went up to put my shopping away.

5 mins later I am ready to go out, Looked in the pushchair at my princess & noticed that she was very dopey looking, Her eyes were rolled back in her head & her tongue was at the top of her mouth, So seeing as I had to go to the doctors to cancel my apointment for later that afternoon, I thought I would ask to see a doctor ASAP but was told by the receptionists that I would have to wait until 3:50 that afternoon so that she could have the appointment I had just cancelled so trying to argue my case & failing I accepted the appointment & left the doctors surgery.

Getting home an hour later I noticed a dark purple rash on her ear so rang my Health Visitor thinking it was meningitis, After explaining that she was very dopey looking & had developed a rash on her ear I was told to take her straight back down to see the Health Visitor,

When I took her out of her pushchair to show the Health Visitor the rash on her ear she was extremely floppy. So my Health Visitor took me & Chloe upstairs to the Doctors Surgery where she was immediately seen & an ambulance was called to take me up to meet the Air Ambulance. Where we were rushed to Treliske Hospital.

On the 9 minute journey I saw my daughter die infront of me twice and get revived by the paramedics on board.

Once at the hospital she was taken away from me & I was ushered into another room to calm down. After the longest hour of my life a doctor came in & asked if she had banged her head as she had no symptoms of meningitis, I said that she hadn't banged her head so they went off baffled,

After another couple of hours I was finally allowed to see her, what I saw when I walked in will never leave me.

My little princess was so tiny on a big hospital bed with wires & tubes coming from everywhere, but the most harrowing thing I saw was a metal bolt that had been drilled into her skull to measure the pressure that was building up inside from an unknown head injury.

I was told that after x-rays & tests they had found that Chloe had 3 broken ribs, a broken arm & a fractured skull. They explained that the bolt in her head was measuring the build up of pressure in her head & that it was dangerously high & needed to come down,

Many hours followed of staring at the screen willing the pressure to come down but no matter how hard I wished it never seemed to move.

Tuesday 15th September 1998

I was taken away to Truro police station for questioning, to be taken away from my seriously ill daughter was heartbreaking. Later that day I was told that my ex had been arrested at his place of employment.

On the 16th of September 1998

We held an emergency Christening at her bedside for her as we had been told to face the possibility that she may never wake up again. After the christening she was taken away by the opthalmologist to see if her eyes were responding to light as she had the darkest brown eyes they had ever seen they could not tell if her pupils were dilating just by shining a torch in them.

On Friday the 18th of September

She was taken away for more tests & it was after these tests that I was taken into a room to be told that my beautiful princess was brain dead. I screamed at the Doctors & called them everything possible before running from the hospital wanting to hide, half an hour later I was found by my uncle & was taken back inside to face the reality that someone had killed my daughter & I had to give my consent to start turning machines off.

My sister who lived in Cheltenham had never even met her niece & I had to ring her & tell her that Chloe had died & she said she would get down as soon as possible. So the Doctors agreed to keep the ventilator turned on to keep her breathing & to keep the adrenalin pump on so that her heart was kept beating until my sister got there.

After washing & dressing Chloe photos were taken so that I had some pictures to remember her by. Later I was able to hold my baby for the first time in 5 days & whilst holding her I fell asleep cuddling her.

Waking up it was time to turn the ventilator off & stop the adrenalin pump. So I held my baby until she stopped breathing & then kissed her & gave her to my mother who also held her. Not long after this my sister came into the room to tell me that she had died & I told her I knew that caus she stopped breathing whilst I was holding her & she told me that it was actually my mother that was holding her when she died, I will never forgive my mother for taking that away from me.

9 Months later the trial was held at Truro Corwn Court, on 14th June 1999 I had to stand in the dock & give evidence infront of him, On the 18th June 1999 the verdict was in.........He was found not guilty of Murder but found guilty of Manslaughter, he was sentenced to just 6 years...

......The person that killed my daughter is now out of prison & getting on with his life. Browsing through profiles on facebook one day I came across the person who killed Chloe, Happily sat there with a baby on his lap. Personally I think that he should never be allowed near another child again.....

........Is this just more proof of the Justice system failing again???

This person is able to get on with his life. The day he killed my precious baby is the day I began my life sentence. I am not by any means saying he should have been killed too but can anybody tell me why he should be allowed a life??

HAYLEY'S STORY

Dangers of internet dating

In April 2007, i met a guy on the internet called Andrew , he seemed genuine and decided to meet up with him, after we had been together a few days i told him that i wanted to move out of my parents and he started to look in a few newspapers.

The next day i got a phone call off him saying that he had booked for us to view a flat in Bolton. I agreed to have a look and also paid half of the deposit. As it was a private flat it was a lot of money and was forced to get a loan to support my 10 month old daughter.

We had been living in Bolton for 4 weeks and we decided to go to London for a weekend and leave Courtney with my mum and dad. We went on the Friday and came back on the Monday. While on the way on the train, i got a phone call off social services saying that they wanted to see me as soon as possible.

Andrew was blaming my mum for calling social services, but i said everything will be ok cos i was doing what i could for my daughter. When we got back we went to see the social services.

They spoke to me on my own and said that Andrew has had 3 children taken off him and put into care, I didn't believe any of it. Social Services also said that they had been to our flat with every intention of taking my daughter off me and that really scared me.

They then brought Andrew in and he wouldn't say anything, he was just crying, i felt sorry for him and didn't believe social services.

Social services then said that i had 2 choices, to stay with him and get my daughter taken off me or to move back with my parents, i didn't really have a choice because i'd do anything to protect my daughter.

After all this, i ended up in debt because i got a £1000 loan out to support my daughter and i was also paying for everything, the food, the gas and electric and the rent, i also had to support my daughter and give her everything she needed.

ALAN BRIAN MORRISON

A FATHER cleared of murdering his baby because of insufficient evidence has a secret history of assaulting young children, the Sunday Mail can reveal.

Alan Morrison's nine-week-old son, also Alan, died from horrific brain injuries consistent with violent shaking.

As Morrison, 36, walked free from the High Court in Glasgow after the charge was found not proven, a woman screamed at him: "You've done it twice before."

The Sunday Mail can now reveal what the jury was not told - Morrison is known to police and social workers as a monster whose history of attacking young children stretches back 14 years.

Ex-partner Angela Hamilton told police he assaulted their toddler daughter and her three-year-old son.

Morrison was never convicted, despite her son being paid criminal injuries compensation.

Angela, 34, repeatedly warned police and social workers about her former partner.

Yesterday, Angela, said: "When I read in the paper that the wee boy had died and it was put down to cot death, I knew."

Morrison was accused of murdering his son, also called Alan, in October 1998 at the home in East Kilbride he shared with his then partner Miranda Darroch, 29.

Miranda said her former partner had got away with killing their son.

She said:
"The police and social workers knew all about this monster's past but I knew nothing."

Kitchen worker Morrison has fathered two girls and two boys to three women over the past 14 years.

While living in Govanhill, Glasgow, he and his first partner had a girl and a boy before splitting.

His first daughter, now aged 14, was taken into care for a year.
It was only after Morrison left the family home that social workers allowed the girl to be returned.
His second partner was Angela Hamilton. Her life became a living hell during her pregnancy with son Jason, now aged 13.
She said: "He was not Jason's father but he agreed to be a surrogate dad. During the pregnancy, he assaulted me when he was drunk."

On one occasion, Angela went to check on their five-month-old daughter Kirsty. She said: "Alan tried to discourage me. I went in anyway and saw her lying there with her lips all blue. She spent several days in hospital."

Kirsty was diagnosed with behavioural problems, vertigo and a perforated eardrum.
Angela, of Castlemilk, Glasgow, said: "The doctors say this is probably linked to shaken baby syndrome .

"I am convinced he was responsible for these injuries."

Weeks later, he turned his attention towards Jason.

Angela said: "I went to the hospital and saw Jason's face, body and backside covered in red dots, bruises and fingerprint marks. Morrison had used a dog brush to beat him.

"The police told me he had admitted it but the procurator fiscal said it was not in the public interest to go to court."

A police source said: "In 1992, Morrison was reported for assault. A decision was made not to proceed."
Yet Jason was awarded pounds 1000 criminal injuries cash.

The relationship ended and Morrison moved on to Miranda.

She had a baby daughter called Bobbyleigh to another dad and then gave birth to Morrison's son Alan.

He was aged nine weeks when he died in October 1998.

Alan's death was put down as cot death and for months Miranda and Morrison raised cash for a cot death charity.

Unknown to Miranda, Angela had tried for several years to persuade police to monitor Morrison. Angela said: "I knew he was a danger to any child he was in contact with. I wanted to warn her about Morrison.

"I spoke to a police officer who told me they would take care of the situation.

"I then learned Miranda was pregnant with Alan. I begged the police to act.

"I heard Bobbyleigh's arm was broken and told police he would have done this.

"I also phoned the police when Alan was born.

"A few months later, I read her son had died, supposedly of cot death.
"I knew straight away that was not the case. I phoned the police and told them. This time they did listen."

The first day Miranda and Angela met was on the opening day of Morrison's trial last month.

Miranda, now living in Logan, Ayrshire, said: "If the authorities had told me about this man's past my son could still be alive today.

"My daughter was injured at eight months when she was alone with him.

"When she was two, she suffered another injury when she had a severely bruised face and he told me that she rolled off the couch."

Alan's death would have remained a 'cot death' - had it not been for Angela's determination and the suspicions of Miranda's GP.

Miranda said: "Alan died from a subdural haemorrhage, severe retinal haemorrhage and haemorrhage of the lungs.

"My GP started asking questions and got me thinking."

The doctor eventually alerted the fiscal in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, who instructed police to reopen the case. Miranda said: "I came home a couple of months after Alan's death and accused Morrison of being a murderer.

"He just looked at me but he didn't ever deny it.

"One strange thing that stuck in my mind was before Alan's funeral Morrison said if the baby was buried then he could be exhumed.

"During the court case, Morrison laughed in my face. He said he had lost his house and job, but didn't mention losing his son."

Both Miranda and Angela believe only a public inquiry will provide answers to the series of scandals that led to Alan's death.

Miranda's lawyer Rhonda Anderson, of Anderson Jones Solicitors, said: "I have been instructed to take action against the social work departments and the police. "I am appalled at this man's history and questions have to be asked about why the system failed this baby. I will also be seeking criminal injuries compensation for both Miranda and her daughter."

A spokesman for South Lanarkshire Council said: "We had no knowledge of this man until after the death of the baby."

A Glasgow City Council spokesman said: "Following an incident in July 1992, social workers from the former Strathclyde Regional Council had contact with Mr Morrison.

"The matter was investigated by the police and social workers and no action was taken."
